Reincarnation of education - Google Classroom

Google’s launch into content management systems’ world has been received with a lot of buzz. Google & its applications are now considered as reservoirs of all the information. Let me give you a few examples to qualify my statement. Google is the biggest search engine till date, none other has been able to replace it. Each one of us is aware of Gmail, more than fifty percent of the official work is done via it. Google is around each and every corner of the world. Believe it or not, I continue to consider google as one of the most remarkable service providers throughout the world. Over an amazingly short duration of time, has google emerged as a highly important way for organizations to use their resources to the core.

The traditional ‘Classroom’ which has always been a centralized place for teachers & students to interact, work on assignments & carry out discussions is now being metamorphosed & replaced by Google Classroom. It may sound weird to some of you, but yes you’ve read it right. In order to move forward, we need to dissect the old system & enact a new vision at its place, that’s exactly what Google developers did. Not only Google classroom would become a go to location for your class, but also it can become a place for all your school’s classes. Having it all in one place would certainly streamline efforts.

Google has launched a new tool - Classroom coming to Google Apps for Education that weaves together Google Docs, Drive and Gmail to help teachers create and organize assignments quickly, provide feedback efficiently, and communicate with their classes with ease. It lets students organize their work, complete and turn it in, and communicate directly with their teachers and peers. It helps teachers create and collect assignments without any paperwork. When teachers create assignments, they can choose to share a single document, or automatically make a copy for each student. They can quickly see ongoing assignments and monitor progress about who has or hasn't completed the work, and provide direct, real-time feedback. “It also somehow takes away the excuses from the students”, this what some of the teachers say during a survey. Classroom automatically creates Drive folders for each assignment and for each student. Students can easily see what’s due on their Assignments page, so they can stay on top of their work. Classroom also lets teachers make announcements and pose questions—improving communication inside and outside of class. It is easy to set up, improves organization as well as communication & most importantly, saves us the most value able thing – time.

The concept of online education remained stagnant for decades, but with the upcoming concept of Google classroom, it is expected that these measures will lift up the technical status and lead education to new heights.

I hope this article has acquainted you with a gentle introduction to the world of Google classroom. So now, come let’s play around with it & experience how different it is and how better does it perform.
